The Â鶹ÊÓƵKindy Philosophy

At Â鶹ÊÓƵKindergarten, our highly qualified educators deliver a stimulating and fun Kindy program that provides strong foundations for social, emotional, physical and academic development in each unique child.

The fundamental focus for all our decision making is the wellbeing of the children under our care.

Â鶹ÊÓƵKindy Philosophy

Developing curious learners

The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines underpin the programming and planning of our programs at Â鶹ÊÓƵKindy.

Literacy and numeracy exploration is weaved throughout our engaging and fun daily learning opportunities, encouraging your child to develop an active curiosity about their world and an enthusiasm for learning.

Our experienced educators observe each child’s learning and development in five key areas:

  • Identity
  • Connectedness
  • Wellbeing
  • Active Learning
  • Communicating

Kindy Curriculum

"Play is the highest form of research …" - Albert Einstein.

Discovery through active play

We believe play is a valuable learning opportunity for all young children. It is how they engage, interact and discover the world around them.

At Â鶹ÊÓƵKindy, play is an essential part of our program. Our Kindy educators observe the child’s play, listen to their ideas, encourage and support interactions, and add resources and materials to extend and build on these interests and fascinations.

Purposeful play, along with planned experiences and routines, offer opportunities to build on your child’s current understandings and lead them to new knowledge, ideas and skills.

Play provides many social interactions that support the development of friendship skills, collaborative relationships and empathy.

Specialist lessons

Our Kindergarten children regularly participate in a wide variety of regular specialist lessons.

Â鶹ÊÓƵKindy specialist lessons include:

  • Weekly visits to Greta Junior (Junior School Library) to borrow books and participate in storytelling session with our Greta Junior Staff
  • Music and dance lessons with the Â鶹ÊÓƵJunior Performing Arts Teacher
  • Lessons each week with the Â鶹ÊÓƵJunior Physical Education Specialist Teacher, developing fundamental movement skills
  • Gymnastics classes during Term 3, run by qualified coaches from Allstar Gymnastic Academy.

Well-equipped learning spaces

Our indoor and outdoor spaces at Â鶹ÊÓƵKindy are carefully designed to engage the senses, foster curiosity, and encourage active exploration and discovery.

Our natural play environments provide opportunities for your child to take an active role in becoming environmentally aware and responsible.

Being part of the Â鶹ÊÓƵCollege community, our Kindergarten children also benefit from access to our wider school facilities, such as the Â鶹ÊÓƵJunior Library, school oval, gymnasium and playgrounds.

A day at Â鶹ÊÓƵKindy

Routines offer children a sense of security and stability, however they also need to be flexible to respond to the groups needs and the opportunities presented throughout the day.

Generally each day, the children will spend a large block of time inside and outside allowing for the development of play interests.

Group times, morning tea and lunch are occasions to come together as a class and share books, stories, dance, chats, songs, rhymes and common interests.

We see mealtimes as a social event and encourage the children to chat together and with the educators. There is also time each day for some quiet relaxation or a sleep if required.

Each week the children will have a specialist music, PE and library lesson. We also make the most of opportunities presented by the school to build on our program by observing a concert, participating in sports carnivals, visiting the arts rooms or other such events that suit our program and group of children.
