Â鶹ÊÓƵCollege is recognised as one of the leading physical activity providers in Australia, with Olympians such as such as Dom Du Toit, Tatum Stewart, Emilee Cherry, Cathy Freeman and Dannielle Leisch having developed their skills whilst attending Â鶹ÊÓƵCollege.


From the basketball court to the football field, from the swimming pool to the track, Â鶹ÊÓƵgirls display an unwavering commitment to sportsmanship and dedication to sport. In doing so, our girls have not only achieved remarkable athletic milestones, but have also proven themselves as exceptional individuals who embody resilience, passion and determination.


Â鶹ÊÓƵgirls thrive on the challenge to beat personal bests, chase premierships, or excel at the highest level. In 2023, we had more than 130 Â鶹ÊÓƵteams in local competitions and more than 450 girls involved in individual sporting activities. 127 Â鶹ÊÓƵstudents were selected in Darling Downs Representative School Sport teams and 21 girls progressed further to represent Queensland.

Sporting Pathways


Sport is an integral part of life at Â鶹ÊÓƵwith the emphasis being on enjoyment, participation and sport etiquette.


We are passionate about promoting physical activity for all of our girls and provide many opportunities for participation at all skill levels. Students who excel in their competitive sports are encouraged to pursue their talent at Inter house, Regional, State, National and International levels.


Sporting involvement and competition is in four areas:

    Fairholme’s highly successful Cross Country team has achieved Overall Champion Girls’ School at the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Darling Downs Cross Country Championships. 


    In 2024, 17 Â鶹ÊÓƵstudents represented the Darling Downs at the Queensland School Sport Cross Country Championships, with two athletes selected to represent Queensland at the Australian School Sport Cross Country Championships.

    For the fourth consecutive year, the Â鶹ÊÓƵEquestrian team was also awarded the esteemed Lorette Wigan Cup in 2024 – presented to the secondary school that accumulates the highest number of points throughout the State Championships. 


    Ten Â鶹ÊÓƵriders were selected in the Queensland Team across all disciplines, to compete at the Australian National Interschool Championships.

    With its fast-paced nature and emphasis on teamwork and communication, netball has become a favoured sport amongst Â鶹ÊÓƵgirls. 


    In 2023, Â鶹ÊÓƵhad 29 teams competing in the Toowoomba Netball Association competition, with about 280 girls from Year 2 to Year 12 participating.

    Â鶹ÊÓƵCollege has a proud history in Orienteering, with the College named Champion School for the third year in a row at the 2023 Queensland Schools Orienteering Championships and Overall Runner-Ups in 2024.

    Our highly successful Speed, Power and Strength program has been in place at Â鶹ÊÓƵnow for over seven years. 


    Programs are offered to all Â鶹ÊÓƵgirls and are designed for the specific needs of various sports, with a focus on helping athletes gain a competitive edge and injury prevention. 


    General conditioning and core strength sessions are also available to students. Eight morning sessions are available Monday – Thursday, 6.15am - 7am and 7.15am - 8.pm.


  • Swimming

    Our College swim teams have been a source of great pride and achievement for many years. 


    Through our College Swim Program and the Â鶹ÊÓƵAquatics Swim School, all students have the opportunity to gain water confidence, learn how to swim with sound technique, and become accustomed to a racing environment.

    Touch Football is a popular sport at Â鶹ÊÓƵwith our girls having access to a number of representative level coaches. 


    Our Â鶹ÊÓƵCoordinator of Touch and Rugby Sevens, Georgina Rackemann, is a current member of the Australian Women’s touch team.


    Our teams perform strongly, with many players regularly making representative teams.


    At the 2022 South West Queensland Swans Touch Tournament, our U13, U15 and Open  teams were Division Champions.

Specialist Programs

Speed, Power & Strength


Our highly successful Speed, Power and Strength program has been in place at Â鶹ÊÓƵnow for over seven years. 


Programs are offered to all Â鶹ÊÓƵgirls and are designed for the specific needs of various sports, with a focus on helping athletes gain a competitive edge.

The first School based Club in Queensland, the Â鶹ÊÓƵAthletics Club operated on the Darling Downs during the 1990s and early 2000s with members from as far afield as New South Wales and Central Queensland. As the Athletics Program grew rapidly at the College, the Club was slowly disbanded.


Queensland Athletics has welcomed the decision to return to Club status in the knowledge it will present greater opportunities for athletes at Â鶹ÊÓƵas well as those from across Southern Queensland to reach the highest levels in their chosen events.

Â鶹ÊÓƵEquestrian


Â鶹ÊÓƵhas a proud history in Equestrian, always competing strongly in the Darling Downs Regional Championships where many riders have qualified to go on to represent Â鶹ÊÓƵat both State and National levels.


Equestrian is available as a sport for both Boarders and Day Girls in the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. 


Girls do not have to be riding at competition level to choose Equestrian as their sport as the coaching covers all levels of ability and experience; all the girls need is their horse. 


For Boarders there is agistment available, as well as transport to and from their horse.

Located within the grounds of Â鶹ÊÓƵCollege, Â鶹ÊÓƵAquatic Centre is home to two heated indoor pools - a 25m eight-lane pool, and a 10m three-lane instruction pool. 


Our aquatic programs offer an excellent standard of technique training from infants through to Masters, both for Â鶹ÊÓƵCollege girls and the wider community.

Our exceptionally hard-working and caring coaches have inspired countless Â鶹ÊÓƵstudents to achieve at a high sporting level and maintain healthy and active lifestyles.


Athletes are trained by qualified coaches, some of which are recognised as leaders in their field nationally. 


Fairholme's full-time Sports Performance Coordinator Kirsten Murry, works with the girls on their strength and conditioning, power and speed, and managing their sporting commitments.
